Armadale Station
Armadale Station
The replacement of the existing railway station was used as a catalyst in renewing and revitalising the surrounding urban fabric. This design was developed in conjunction with the Armadale Redevelopment Authority and incorporates a new civic space and office facilities for the PTA Railway Police and operational staff.
Provision was also made for future retail, commercial and civic development within this new urban space. This design respects the surrounding urban fabric including the heritage Post Office, while remaining contemporary and relevant to its function.
Materials were selected for their durability and their provision of an appropriate appearance for the building’s context. Planning of the whole facility and the office clearly defines its’ required spatial hierarchy from public to private. It also provides an important pedestrian thoroughfare.
