BRETT PRIEST

Brett Priest is one half of the partnership team at MPS Architects. Since receiving his Bachelor of Architecture from Curtin University in 1984, Brett has had an exciting career, working for a number of large architectural firms both in Australia and overseas.
Brett began his career as an architect at Perth-based Eames Sandover Australia. During his time there, Brett worked his way from architect to Associate Director in just three years. With a willingness to learn and a great deal of motivation, Brett gained valuable industry experience designing large-scale projects worth more than $60 million and was named primary Project Architect for all projects under $10 million.
In 1989, Brett made the move to the U.K. and was contracted by London-based Chapman Taylor Partners to manage development of a $250 million retail complex.
Returning to Perth in 1991, Brett worked with Perth Electric, a multi-disciplinary project management group that managed the development of the Northern Suburbs Transit System.

The formation of MPS Architects

Since forming MPS Architects with Julian Shaw in 1993, Brett has been instrumental in the development of a range of large-scale projects for government, private sector and residential clients.
Brett’s speciality is Transport Infrastructure Design and Development but his multi-disciplinary background makes him a valuable asset for any project that we undertake.

JULIAN SHAW

Julian Shaw is a founding partner of MPS Architects. A graduate of the Architecture program at the University of Western Australia, Julian has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. An Associate of the Royal Australian Institute of Architecture, Julian has been involved in the completion of large-scale projects for numerous Western Australian architectural firms.

After beginning his career in 1986, Julian gained substantial experience designing and developing infrastructure and building projects for the mining industry, as well as commercial and residential projects in Perth.

During his six years as a project architect for the Government Railways, Julian completed a range of rail-related projects, including office and administration buildings, communications and control facilities, rail and road vehicle servicing, and repair facilities and railway stations.

The formation of MPS Architects

In 1993, Julian and business partner Brett Priest formed MPS Architects. Julian has wide-ranging experience across many disciplines, which has delivered successful projects for clients such as Polytechnic West, West Coast Institute of Technology, Department of Education and Training, WA Health and the Public Transport Authority.

Julian is passionate about Quality Assurance and was the driving force behind the creation of the Quality Control protocols and procedures that are now part of our internal project life cycle.
