MPS Architects were engaged by the Department of Finance to provide cost effective strategies to enhance and refurbish the existing cafeteria at Karratha Tafe.

The existing building was structurally sound however had become worn-out over the course of its time and lacked any activity outside its function as a canteen.

The desired function of the space was to create a “student hub” for students. The Hub was intended to be utilized in a number of ways. Purchase food, meet other students, break out education space, relax and provide access to digital technologies. It will be important that part of the project will be a fence to stop high school students gaining access to the Hub.
